Editing

Finally! We've finished filming and are preparing to edit! We have transferred all of our footage onto the Mac and began to edit.
Once we uploaded our footage we realise we had a newer version of i-Movie that we hadn't used before, but once we got used to it we realised it was actually easier than the older version! it gave us more options for effects and transitions and made cuts easier and more precise.
As we only have one laptop its difficult for us all to use the software and edit the film. We decided as long as we were all present during editing, throwing in ideas then it didn't matter who was actually on the laptop.
We have used a variety of transitions such as fade in and out, to black and white aswell, we used cross blur, cross dissolve, cube, swap and doorway! We used a sound effect at the beggining of our film when the front door bangs shut. We also editied the films hue, satuartion and brightness and on some of then added an effect so that they looked as though they were filmed on cctv cameras. On a few of the clips we cropped the images as they had obstructive objects in the mes-en-scene. We also added in a title sequences at the end.

plan for cd/dvd

This is our Plan for our advert:

Its going to be very similar to the CD cover except the advert will have a background image with all 3 characters and then the CD cover we designed and the artist and song name and also the price.
We decided our promotional package would be advertised in NME magazine. This is because the magazine is an indie music magazine and this is our target audience. We found out alot of information about how much it would cost to advertise in this magazine and audience information on this site:

Lights, Camera, ACTION! - Take #2

Filming went very well today, we got alot done and worked until it was dark. We got alot of the narrator shots done today, we told our actor to really exaggerate when miming so it makes it easy for us when it comes to editing.
We also got the drug deal scene filmed which went very well.

Finding A New Location, Props And Costumes!

So after our last shoot went awol we had a lot to do! We had to find a new loaction, and decide on new costumes, we also had to gather props.
We found a really good location near our original location. It was a cycle track with next to a river (perfect for the first verse!) with nearby underpasses. It is far off a road also so we wont have a problem with car light interference or anything like that.
Props
We have gathered our props, they are as follows:
  • Can of Stella (for Sheila)
  • Bottle of pills (for Georgina's overdose)
  • Bottle of alcohol (" ")
  • Plastic baby doll (for minor character "Lisa")
  • Bag of "drugs" (for Jack's drug deal)
Costumes
Sheila:
  • Construction boots
  • Pink footless tights
  • Denim mini skirt
  • Vest top
  • Pink hooded jacket
Jack:
  • Hoodie
  • Joggers
  • Trainers/Plimpsoles
Georgina:
  • Baggy jeans
  • T-shirt
  • Hooded jacket or bodywarmer
  • Ugg boots

Planning Our Advert & CD/DVD Cover

Here is the plan we drew up for our CD/DVD:

We decided that as we have to do our covers individually we are going to each have a different character on the front, so one had "Sheila" one had "Jack" and one had "Georgina" on the front. We think this is a good idea because it will make them all look part of the same promotional package yet still look different from each other. We are all going to use the same font, and take photos under an underpass so it looks dirty like the video.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

So, we set out on our first day of filming our new video. we realised when we started to film that we hadnt given things such as props enough thought and so we were left unable to film alot of stuff because we didnt have the props we needed! Very stupid of us! We decided to film myself and Tana stumbling around the strrets acting drunk as we thought this could be back up film for a filler if we are left with gaps when it comes to editing.

Changes! -

Location -

My group and I all felt our location wasnt right. We had alot of cars pass us which meant we had to keep stopping and starting and the lights from the cars looked distracting on film. We also felt that it didnt look dirty and grimey enough for the look we was trying to achieve.

Costumes -

We also felt that the costumes we had decided upon wenrt the right look. They needed to look more chavvy and dirty, our first idea of comstumnes were, if you like, too "posh" for the look. As i was playing "Sheila" i discussed with my group the option of taking inspiration from the film "Kidulthood" and the character "Becky", as she had the chavvy, grimey look we wer looking for, and we all decided that it worked, below are some images of "Becky" from the film "Kidulthood"
